Greetings and Welcome!

My name is Caitlin Hall and am currently a Master's of Divinity student at Louisville Seminary. I have been honored to provide this first post so please let me give a hearty "Welcome!" to our blog. We are one month and counting until we board a plane and head to Israel and Palestine for a 15-day journey through the Holy Land!

I know, at least for me, it has been a long semester of waiting, but also one filled with insightful readings, videos and discussions all of which have been designed to help prepare us for our trip. Beginning January 12, 2014 18 students, 2 spouses, and 2 professors will depart from Louisville on a plane (the first of many!) that will lead us 6250 miles from home and into the heart of three faiths, Christianity, Islam and Judaism. How do these faiths exist in and around each other? What can we learn from each of them? How will it shape our own theologies and faith journeys?  We hope you join us here  as we discuss these questions, our collective experiences, and the vast adventures that await us.

Fifteen days hardly seem long enough to consider the thousands of years that separate the inception of Jerusalem and our generation today. We are fortunate enough, however,  that as we depart another group of Louisville community members and LPTS Alumni will arrive. We will even get to join together for a beautiful celebration of fellowship before we part ways! From January 26-February 10, 2014, 25 more people will set foot in Tel Aviv and begin their own journey through the Holy Land. We hope you will join us for this month of pilgrimage, lasting memories and new perspectives on faith, community and the ever changing world around us. What a way to start 2014!

Blessings and Peace,
Caitlin
